Special offer: Discounted travel with Lufthansa Group Partner Airlines
To make a reservation, please click on Lufthansa Booking Platform and enter the access code ATZJYLC for flights to Basel or Frankfurt in the "Access to Your Special Lufthansa Offer" area.
This will open an online booking platform that will automatically calculate the discount offered or provide you with an even better offer if another promotional fare is available.
NOTE: Pop-ups must be enabled otherwise the booking platform window will not open.
These promotional fares are also available through your IATA / ARC travel agent. Travel agents can obtain ticketing instructions by sending an email to Lufthansa Mobility and providing the access code as a reference.
Option 1) Especially for overseas flights, Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) is a good choice. You can use Lufthansa, for which Frankfurt is the most important hub, and get a special discount as they are the official IBLC meetings carrier (as above). From Frankfurt Airport you have high speed train connections every hour that take you in about 2 hours to Freiburg Central Station. See your train connections here. Enter Frankfurt Airport and Freiburg (Breisgau) as the departing and arriving stations. You can book the train online in advance to save on the train ticket or ask for the Lufthansa Rail and Fly program when booking your flight.
Option 2) The closest international airport to Freiburg is Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (Euroairport, airport codes EAP or BSL or MLH). Easyjet flies nonstop from many destinations, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bristol, Brussels, Budapest, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Lisbon, London, Pisa and Rome; WizzAir flies nonstop from Bucarest and Warsaw. Furthermore, there are connecting flights from many European international airports with national carriers such as Lufthansa (from Frankfurt), Air France, KLM, Turkish Airlines, British Airways or Iberia. From Euroairport, a shuttle bus brings you in 50 minutes to Freiburg Central Station. You can also forward your arrival time in advance to and customized shuttles can be organised.
Option 3) For our guests arriving from Austria, Switzerland, France (Paris) and Italy (Milan), train or car are the best choices. You can book online in advance to save on the ticket on the site of the German Railway, or book via your country's railway website as well.
Freiburg Central Station is directly opposite to IBLC Event Hotel, the Novotel am Konzerthaus Hotel. For our guests who come to the Post Meeting Tour, the Novotel am Konzerthaus Hotel in Freiburg will be your home for all nights. The Post Meeting Tour concludes with a dinner on Tuesday evening in a Restaurant between Basel and Freiburg with the bus returning to Freiburg. However, if you have a flight home from Euroairport, you can choose not to return to Freiburg on Tuesday evening and either directly go to your flight on Tuesday (leaving the group in Basel during the day) or stay one night in Basel or Mulhouse (close to the airport) to fly home on Wednesday. We can help you finding accommodation there.
Please do not hesitate to contact Sven Tjarks for any questions regarding your journey to/from Freiburg.
